Is my e-scooter legal in my state?
Pick your state and a catalogue model to use all available evidence. A manual top-speed-only check cannot confirm required weight, dimensions, wheelbase or maximum power. Missing required specifications stay unconfirmed. You will get a device check, plus where you can ride, how fast, and the age, helmet and licence rules. State rules last checked 2026-10-17.
The checker covers all 104 models we track, including discontinued ones, so owners of older scooters can check them too. How we count

How the checker works
What makes an e-scooter eligible for public riding?
The exact device must meet your state's definition, including required weight, dimensions, capability, braking equipment and in QLD wheelbase. NT has a separate maximum 200 W and 10 km/h definition. Rider age, licence, location and supervision rules are separate. Missing required evidence is not approval.
Does a 25 km/h app setting make a faster scooter legal?
No. A riding mode is not proof of a legally compliant maximum capability. Confirm the exact Australian configuration and all other device requirements. QLD's transition through 28 February 2027 is conditional on manufacture before 1 July 2026 and former compliance; model year alone is not evidence.
Can I ride a private e-scooter in NSW or the NT?
NSW personal e-scooters remain private-property only. NT permits a separately defined private motorised scooter with maximum combined output no more than 200 W, motor-only capability no more than 10 km/h and the required maker marking. Most adult scooters exceed that definition; unknown power is not a pass.
Is this legal advice?
No. Results compare published or entered specifications with linked official definitions, not physical certification. Confirm the exact device, rider, equipment and route before riding.
